A Note from our Publishers, Sarah & Cheryl

Greetings to all and we hope you enjoy our special Convention Edition newsletter!  We want to thank all of you who came out to support our “Meet the Candidates” night this past Wednesday evening (April 24) at Edina Country Club.  It was a well-attended event giving our supporters the opportunity to connect 1:1 with many of our candidates in a casual setting. Those that came, we hope you found it valuable especially as we head into “Election Season” including the special District 6 primary next week.  If you weren’t able to attend but would still like to make a donation to fund upcoming GOP campaigns, you can do so by clicking HERE.

We also want to remind everyone of the upcoming District 6 Special Election Calendar. This election is for EDINA Residents only. Marisa Simonetti is the only Conservative Candidate running for Hennepin County Commissioner.   We need everyone to vote to get her elected. If you live in Edina or Bloomington and are able to help with Get Out the Vote phone calls please let us know at [email protected].

Tuesday, April 30: Special Primary (polls open 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

Monday, May 6: Absentee voting opens for special General Election

Tuesday, May 14: Special Election Day (polls open 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

And for those of you attending Congressional Conventions this weekend, thank you for your support and we hope you enjoy connecting with friends old and new!

All our best,

Sarah Knapp, Co-Chair & Cheryl Peterson, Secretary

Teri's Take

A Note from our SD 50 Co-Chair, Teri Hovanec

As we approach a full four years of a Minnesota Trifecta, I am reflecting on my feelings of both fear and relief. Fear that a progressive agenda will continue to ram through and relief that it is nearing the end. We have had to endure almost four years of the absence of checks and balances, unchecked power and little to no oversight. But my feelings of fear and relief are slowly turning to feelings of excitement. Excitement knowing that the GOP party is proactively addressing internal divisions, rallying around strong candidates and working towards developing a cohesive message.

Several positive signs make me confident that this is our year. In the Minnesota Presidential primary, Donald Trump received more than 60,000 more votes than Joe Biden. Republican turn-out was 17% higher than Democratic turn-out. Minnesotans are simply tired of inflation, increasing crime levels and out of control social programs. That frustration is being channeled through the polls and it is becoming clear that more and more Minnesotans are looking for economic growth, reduced government spending, safe streets and schools and a commonsense approach to social issues and programs. And they are looking to the Minnesota GOP to push this agenda forward.  According to a recent KSTP-TV poll, Minnesotans are more likely to vote for Republican leadership in Minnesota House races.

As the 2024 election draws near, we will continue to work towards engaging and re-engaging voters, supporting our candidates and promoting polices that Minnesotans want. It’s critical that we continue to present a clear, concise, and compelling message of being the party of stability, common sense and fiscal responsibility.  That message is what Minnesotan need to hear. . . and thankfully they are listening!

It’s an exciting time and we invite each of you to join us. Please consider attending our events, volunteer on a campaign, sign up to be an election judge and make sure your VOTE counts!  We can do this… together!

Fondly,

Teri

Elephant Club Meeting with Special Guest, Congressman Wesley Hunt:

Nicole Schnell and Sarah Knapp recently attended the Elephant Club Luncheon with SD50 A Candidate Owen Michaelson, as well as SD 50 constituents Kathy Kranz and Carol Brumwell.  The speaker, Congressman Wesley Hunt, had a special message: Minnesota is in play and Republicans are going to win! Advice to Republicans who do not care for Trump: You only have two choices; Biden or Trump.  You need to put aside your hurt feelings and vote Trump to save our great Country!  We need ALL Republicans to unite behind Trump.
