SD 49-50 Summer Picnic

Fun Was Had By All at Our Annual Picnic

“It was such a great afternoon!” That is how people will describe the SD 49 / 50 Republican picnic that happened on Sunday the 13th at Bush Lake Park in Bloomington.

It was an absolutely perfect Minnesota summer day without a cloud in the sky, and a full spread of food was served: burgers, brats, fresh roasted ears of Minnesota “gunnysack” corn (expertly prepared by Bloomington City Council Candidate, Tom Hulting), and all of the sides. Five attendees even won a drawing for a fresh watermelon, sponsored by Dar Gray.

In addition to all of the familiar Senate District faces, special guests included Senate Minority Leader David Hann, MN GOP Chair Keith Downey, Deputy Chair Chris Fields, and Secretary Ryan Love. Rousing speeches were also given by select Edina School Board candidates.  We were especially pleased to also welcome Chair Frank Mendez and Deputy Chair Mariah Delapaz of the Republican Hispanic Assembly of Minnesota, along with their previous Chair, Rick Aguilar. We look forward to working together in the future, as we pursue our many common goals.

It was gratifying to see a larger number of young people, along with a happy group of little ones who hardly left the adjoining playground. Some managed to leave long enough to take part in a scavenger hunt, and selected from prizes as rewards for their efforts. None left empty-handed.

These events never happen without the hard work of our volunteers, and we so appreciate the shoppers and “schleppers,” those that arrived early for set-up, our superb grill team, and the clean-up crew. Without your efforts this day wouldn’t have been possible. THANK YOU!

Fun was had by all, which is typical of our gatherings. If you were unable to attend this one, you are encouraged to try to attend events in the future!
