2023 SD 50 Convention Call
To: The Delegates & Alternates of Senate District 50,
Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the Republican Party of Minnesota, the Senate District 50 Convention is hereby called to meet:
When: SATURDAY, MARCH 4th
Registration is open from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM, Convention convenes at 10:00 AM
Where: Jefferson High School Auditorium, 4001 W 102nd St, Bloomington, MN
Parking: Staff lot on northeast corner of school property, just off 102nd St., near the main entrance
The last elections were challenging. Not just for Minnesotans, but nationally. What we have seen is that there is a need for local involvement in order to drive a clear, winning agenda for our candidates. This is where you come in. It is time for us to show up for our neighbors and friends. Not to simply complain about the state of affairs, but to show up and connect and help to build the future of this Senate District. The days of “hoping” that things will work out are over. We need to act, and we need to act now.
The Senate District 50 Convention shall be composed of the delegates and alternates elected at the precinct caucuses in February of 2022 currently living within the boundaries of House Districts 50A and 50B. If you are no longer living in House District 50A or 50B, please notify Wayne Wenger at [email protected] or 952-926-8627.
The Senate District Convention shall be held for the purpose of:
- Approval of the Senate District 50 Bylaws
- Election of Officers of the Senate District 50 Executive Committee for two-year terms: 2 Co-Chairs, 10 Vice Chairs (4 from 50A, 4 from 50B and 2 from either House District), Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications Chair.
- Election of Delegates, First Alternates, Second Alternates, and Third Alternates to the State Central Committee.
- Transaction of such other business as may properly come before the convention.
We will be creating a 2023 Convention page on our website on or about February 15. Check out the material on that page to prepare for the convention.
Delegates and Alternates: The pre-registration fee (received by Monday, February 27) is $30. After February 27, the registration fee is cost $40.
Guests/Observers: The pre-registration fee (received by Monday, February 27) is $15. Payments taken at the door will be $20.
These prices are the same as last year. We are doing our part to resist inflation.

You may also RSVP by emailing or calling Wayne Wenger ([email protected] or 952-926-8627) by February 27 and pay at the door of the convention. Credit cards will not be accepted at the door.
Water, coffee, and snacks will be available in the morning. No food is allowed on the Convention floor. No lunch will be provided, and no other food will be available if the convention goes long.
NOTE: If you wish to be considered as a candidate for the SD 50 Executive Committee, or as a Delegate or Alternate for the State Central Committee of MNGOP, please contact Craig Black at [email protected] or 612.889.0473 on or before Monday, February 27. According to our bylaws and convention rules, interviews with candidates must take place prior to the convention. If contacted by February 27, Craig will schedule a time for interviews with the Nominating committee as required prior to the convention. We would like to also receive a picture of each candidate and a short statement (about 60 words) on your qualifications. The picture and words will be distributed to the delegates and alternates at the Convention.
